Reaction Paper About Volleyball
Personal narrative: the coach who changed my life.
It all started when i was in fourth grade. It all changed what inspired me came by whole big dream that i wanted to be successful at. I was at school just a normal day, and it was times to go to PE, and my coach got out a circular ball that i had never seen in my life. It was kinda colorful, it had some weird word written on it, but i couldn't see from where i was standing. My coach handed us each one of these balls, and coach called them volleyballs. My coach told us what to do and what not to do, so i was at this net, and just gave the ball a high five because that's what he said to do. Coach came over to me, and kinda directed me through and told me it was called a serve. That day i went home thinking about it, and i decided i want to do

Counting down the seconds in a crowded dark hallway, listening behind doors to the song Welcome to the Jungle blasting in the gymnasium mixed with the sounds of the crowds roaring. The only thoughts going through everyone's head, is that this might be the last time we ever play together again. As soon as the song gets to the que we run out of the hallway under a tunnel made of arms, running into the moment that can make it or break it.

Many injuries that occur with volleyball run from Bruises to breaks. The most common are ankle or knee injuries since a lot of stop and go and jumping. Often muscles are pulled in the shoulders and back. In volleyball injuries are all too common. Whether its landing wrong or player collision injuries and volleyball players go together like rain and water. Often you may see a girl with bruises all over her knees and elbows but its just from the game or practice she recently had. Volleyball may seem like a less exsausting sport compared to basketball but in Volleyball muscles are constantly stopping and going and movements are very prisice and sharp. A player has to be almost lightning fast and and in deep
Volleyball Monologue
What do you think when you hear volleyball; serve, bit, pass, net and ball. It's so much more than that it's aggression, passion, oomph, uphill battle, and love. At first I thought volleyball was just for fun, but then one day that all changed. "Hurry up and make sure that you have everything you need," my mom shouted. "Okay, I'll be out in a minute," I replied. I promptly jammed my shoes into my bag, zipped it and rushed out my bedroom and down to the front door. My mom rushed in and said, "Let's go." We seemed to accelerate down the road. As we approached the gymnasium the car and dashed into the building. Legion points into the game everyone started to glance around frantically

5)Serving is a very important element of volleyball. A server who can serve the ball reliably and skillfully will help his or her team far more than will a player who, for instance, is inconsistent with their serving. There are a variety of serves that are employed in competitive volleyball, from "floaters" that seem to shimmy and shake on their way over the net to hard-driven jump serves.

Descriptive Essay On A Game At A Volleyball Game
At every practice there were different stations specializing in hitting (spiking), digging (bumping), and setting. We peppered with partners at some stations and practiced serving at others. Our forearms were turning scarlet from digging so many balls and our necks started to ache after craning our necks so many times setting the ball. We had to pick which position we wanted to play in the game and I picked outside hitter (player that spikes) because I wanted to be the one that would

Reflection Paper On Volleyball
Volleyball has been a passion of mine for a long time. I started playing volleyball in the sixth grade and every since then I have had an undying love for it. Choosing a sport was a little difficult because there were so many options, but all of the options did not fit for me. As teammates and I, are all so competitive, but we still remain humble and value each others opinions. Over the years, we have all established some kind of relationship. The work we do can be very demanding at times but we push through, believing that practice makes perfect. Personal Narrative Essay: How Volleyball Changed My Life
Volleyball is now one of my favorite sports. I still love softball and basketball, but volleyball is definitely one of my main interests. Application for Columbia University
Volleyball represents my most meaningful commitment not just because I have invested so much into it, but also because it it’s a passion of mine and has been a part of my life since elementary school. The impact my coaches and teammates have had on my life has helped make me the confident and determined individual I am today. Volleyball also takes up a lot of time and there are many sacrifices that come with the sport and playing on a team. To keep up my skills, I have had to give up a lot of my free time and parts of my summer. Balancing school with practices was also a challenge, but participating in one of my passions made it worthwhile. I have persevered through difficult times and learned new lessons along the way, so there is nothing that could make this sport less meaningful to me. (148)

However, when the ball landed three feet in front of our best passer, something snapped inside of me.

So we might come from different backgrounds or cultures but we all have one object
Access, Equity and Equality in Sport and Physical Activity: Peter Figueroa
Volleyball is a game which consists of teams of six which rally a ball over a net. Although anyone can play volleyball, sociologists have used a tool which displays how an individual decides to participate by exploring socio-cultural factors that can influence equity and access within sport. This tool is known as Figueroa’s Framework which was constructed by Peter Figueroa. “Figueroa developed a tool to investigate the issues surrounding access, equity and equality in sport and physical activity.” (12peboard.weebly.com). This framework consists of five levels they are Cultural, Structural, Institutional, Interpersonal and Individual; each level contributes to one another. Equity derived from the word equality looks at the equal opportunity/chance for everyone within any sport, whereas access focuses on the accessibility to equipment, a court, coaches etc. Both these elements have major impacts on whether the individual can easily participate and feel welcome in the sport. Figueroa’s Framework will be used to observe the Individual and Interpersonal level to self-evaluate my own participation and success in the sport Volleyball. These two levels will be discussed to demonstrate how the sport volleyball can be selected and what impact and effects are taken into consideration of this process and how they respond and develop. Problems in the equity of the sport will be looked and ideas will be discussed which could increase equity in the sport.

Confucius once said, "he who does not do well is less guilty than he who pushes too hard." People found that competitive sports are often physically straining and it is detrimental to proper emotional development. This blows away the misconception that competitive sports create a healthy and engaging atmosphere for kids. This and an overly strong obsession with winning create a toxic mix for the child’s wellbeing. People have begun to realize the world of competitive may be doing more harm than good for their children. Parents have also begun to notice that competitive sports often injure their children severely and also make the child feel left out, which in turn is detrimental to the child 's emotional health. In addition, if the server likes to serve cross-court, even though this does not affect the overall time, it can be utilized to serve the ball harder and perhaps catch off-guard the opponent players, resulting to a pass.
Describe The History Of Volleyball
The sport of volleyball was created in 1895 by William G. Morgan. He was the Director of Physical Education of the YMCA of Massachusetts. William Morgan was born in the state of New York and studied at Springfield College, Massachusetts. He sprints up and down the court, as sweat pours down his face and on to the hardwood. The player’s legs are in severe pain, and he is out of breath, yet he continues to run, utilizing every last portion of energy that he maintains. He desires to better himself, not necessarily for his own benefit, but for the benefit of his team. He knows that every single member of the team, including himself, must work as hard as they possibly can on the court to reach their potential and achieve success. Organized sports teach athletes some of the most powerful moral values and life lessons that any individual can attain. Despite the opposing opinion that students who take part in organized sports suffer academically due to time deprivation and focus misdirected away from the classroom, involvement in sports teaches young men and women to maintain imperative values, such as hard work, selflessness, and commitment, which ultimately improves student-athletes’ academic performance.

Importance Of Cultural Diversity Essay
Diversity should be respected and definitely noticed because it shows our uniqueness and self worth (McHale). Culture is a very strong part of everyone's life. Instead of trying to ignore our differences we should embrace differences and be proud of who we are. We can learn many different things if we give people who are culturally different from us a chance. Cultural diversity gives us an opening to learn about the uniqueness of the world. People can't go around wanting everything to be the same. They can't go tell themselves that cultures and differences aren't important (“Section 1”).

In this study the effect of self-talk on learning the volleyball service skill was examined and also the self-efficacy improvement. Participants were 57 female players 13 years old (mean age =12.83, SD=0.97) with two years’ experience (Μ=1.99, SD=0.67). Prior to the beginning of the program, participants were randomly assigned into two groups: a. the instructional self-talk group (ISTG, n = 28) and b. the control (traditional) group (CG, n = 29). All athletes followed a four-week practice program, aiming at overhand service skill learning and self-efficacy improvement. The program consisted of two practice units (60 min) per week. Participants of ISTG were taught to use the self-talk (for technique) loud before they performed the service drills. The control group received traditional feedback, that is, knowledge of performance and knowledge of results provided by the instructor. Service performance was assessed by videotaped evaluations in five basic elements of skill. There were three measurement periods for field test: pre-, post- and retention tests (one week after post-test). ANOVA repeated measures revealed significant interaction between groups and measures. There was also significant interaction between groups and self-efficacy scores. The results indicated that participants of the ISTG had better scores in the final measurement than the control group, when technique was evaluated and improved also their self-efficacy. In conclusion the Self-talk helps female volleyball athletes to improve performance and learning of overhand service skill and to improve also their self-efficacy. This study adds some useful elements to practitioners and how they used self-talk in the practice.

This study aims to determine the effects of strength and serving practices on serving skills performed by volleyball players who practice volleyball regularly. 30 female athletes with an average age of 16.30±0.8 years control group (CG) and 16.44±0.1 years experimental group (EG), who have been participating in volleyball practices on a regular basis for at least five years (90 min/day, three days/week), volunteered for this study. All players were randomly divided into two groups: the EG (n=15) and the CG (n=15). The participants continued attending their regular practices three times a week for 14 weeks, involving technical-tactical training and speed and agility practices required to succeed in volleyball. In addition to these practices, the EG also performed extra serving practices for another hour once a week and participated in strength workout training programs aiming to improve their upper and lower extremities on another day. At the beginning of this study, these players' anthropometric characteristics and ability to get the serve over the net and to serve to a target were noted before and after this 14-week program. When the physical characteristics of these groups were compared, no statistically significant differences were found (p>0.05). However, when the players' ability to get the serve over the net and to serve to a target were compared, statistically significant differences were found between these two groups (p>0.05). Finally, it was concluded that strength and serving practices, in addition to technical practices, which play a crucial role in improving performance and skills in volleyball, improved the serving skills of young female volleyball players; thus, giving extra programs to improve serving skills was found essential.

In our present paper we will try to illustrate, for the benefit of those directly involved such as players, teachers and game leaders - some aspects that, by defining new game and training concepts dedicated to juniors II, could prove essential to the progress and present development of volleyball. Based on existing facts, we consider that our present research is necessary and modern at the same time, because of the evolution of volleyball as a sport, and due to the belief that our hypothesis has both theoretical value with consistent chances of generalization, and practical value with immediate applicability, too. Another argument would be the fact that finding adequate solutions for increasing defence efficiency could also lead to great results, since a proper defence strategy has, in most cases, a decisive influence upon the results at the end of the game. Our present endeavour falls into the categories of volleyball theory and method, and we pledge to bring our modest contributi...

Participants were 63 boys and 53 girls in elementary school, whose mean age was 11.7yr. (SD=5). The children were randomly assigned into two groups given the same practice method for 16 practice sessions (8 for the set and 8 for the serve) but different types of modeling. Some participants observed a videotaped of an expert model performing the skills, and the second group observed a videotaped replay of their own performance. Verbal cues were provided simultaneously with the videotaped demonstration. The first group improved set and serve skills more on acquisition and on the retention test than the second group. This improvement was present when scores and form were evaluated. Modeling plus instructional cues seemed to improve children’s learning of two volleyball skills (set and serve), and this procedure is suggested for use by practitioners.

Narrative Essay About Basketball
“Why can’t we get into our freaking offense!?” This is all I really remember from Coach McKendrick at halftime last year against Niles North in what was a tough night for our basketball team. Prior to this, we beat New Trier at home and then went on the road and beat the pre-season unanimous vote to win conference, Highland Park, in our first conference game. Before the New Trier game, our game plan was simple: we were smaller, but faster, so we were going to run the court and make this is a fast pace game. We executed our gameplan, and we won.
